Join Our Team
Currently, 4-H Alberta is looking for experienced and enthusiastic Area Coordinators to join our team on a full-time basis. This role will require travel within your appointed area as well as work hour flexibility in order to meet the needs of a youth organization.
Working in partnership with 4-H volunteers, 4-H Alberta staff are hired to perform duties related to the operation of a first-class, respected youth development program. The location of the job aligns with the position: some positions referenced as Airdrie are primarily based at 4-H Alberta headquarters to be located in the Airdrie, Alberta vicinity. Some are ‘semi-remote’ meaning a portion of the responsibilities will require being located in 4-H Alberta headquarters and a portion can be completed remotely; and some positions will operate ‘remote’ and do not require a headquarters location.
Reporting to the Volunteer and Leadership Development Manager this exciting role will see you carry out a range of responsibilities including:
- Acting as the primary consultant and mentor for volunteers to an assigned 4-H area.
- Promoting, coordinating, delivering, and evaluating all 4-H area programs and events.
- Maintaining a healthy and productive partnership with area and club leadership as well as other 4-H Alberta staff.
- Providing coaching, mentoring, and training support to new clubs, leaders, and members.
- Ensuring programs designed for clubs and areas align with 4-H Alberta's strategic direction.
- Ensuring the administration of assigned services and activities within the area.
- Working in harmony with the other Area Coordinators, the Volunteer and Leadership Development Manager, Program Manager, Project and Resource Coordinators, and Club Governors.
In order to qualify for this role, you will need a minimum of 3 years of youth mentorship and leadership training experience along with experience in volunteer and community engagement and a background in agriculture or experience with rural audiences. You will also need relevant post-secondary education and a broad understanding and appreciation for organization accreditation and leader screening programs. Experience in program administration and implementation is also required. Previous experience in outreach, extension, and teaching adult education is an asset as is previous experience in a volunteer-based, not-for-profit organization.
